M: "No, I have milkEY water."

1.16.14: M, making plans for her future: "When I'm 66, I'm going to have 100 babies."

12.6.13: To the kindly father of a classmate.
M: "Why do you don't have hair?"

9.9.13:
M: "I'm a little bit little and a little bit big."

8.18.13:
M: "When I'm an adult, I will drink coffee and tea and have sharp nails."

7.10.13: in an attempt to crack a joke:
M: "Why does the Jell-O need a bowl, why? It needs a plate!"

7.8.13: listening to an NPR story talking about Justin Bieber
M: "They are talking about Beaverton!!!!!"

7.1.13:
adult: "Elliot you are being really nice to your sister."
M: "Yes he is (very deadpan). Tomorrow he will be very mean (almost whispered & quite serious)."

6.26.13:
E coined a new term for a bail of hay: hay loaf

may 2013: in response to an observation that she has very pretty blue eyes...
M: "My Daddy did them for me."

april 2013: in a soft whiney voice indicating that she took offense
M: "Elliot called me Overham Lincoln."
E: (shouting from the background) "No I didn't! Abraham!"

january 2013: still working on her grammar, tenses & syntax
M: "Mine having a nose running."

in an attempt to improve his pleases & thank yous
E: "This dinner looks really good, I know I'll like it. Thank you for making it Daddy. (I was saying my pleases and thank yous.)"

december 2012:
M: "That is Barak Obama's house."
E: "No, he lives in a light house."
M: "That is Barak Obama's light house."
E: "No, he lives in Tennessee."

november 2012: maisie's favorite color?
M: "purtle" (spelled phonetically)

mumbling to himself after a request to alter his behavior:
E: "If I want to rock it today, I better change my ways."

october 2012:
the Presidential election is between:
E: "Pwesident Bawak Obama & McRomney"

maisie's most frequent phrase
"Wussat noise?"

august 2012: when elliot is really upset at you
E: "Bowman arrow in your eye!" (no, that is not a typo)

7.9.12: upon observing a kid riding his bike up a moderate hill
E: "That person has really serious biking skills!"

6.12.12: at naptime
M: "Stop talking Elliot." (repeated several times)
E: (does not stop talking)
M: "Do you need to go into their room?"
E: (eventually was moved into our room)

6.11.12: while correctly pointing these out to M on a globe
E: French Guiana, Brazil, Peru

5.19.12:
M: "No diapers! undies."
Stu: "So are you going to use the potty?"
M: "no, flower pot."

4.13.12: upon a slight bump of his hand against the fence
E: "It is so much blood!" (followed by loud wailing)
Clearly he doesn't remember the real "there is so much blood!" (see june 2009)

4.11.12: sampling of words Maisie said today:
mozzarella
tzatziki
hummus
falafel

3.25.12: shortly after moving the kids into their loft bed.
E: "Maisie? Do like I do. I go to sleep."
M: "No."
