Yuletide Blog Thursday, Part One: Ice! More Snow!

I'm filing this entry from Christmas morning in Los Angeles, where it's rainy but decidedly warm, compared to the past week in Portland. Here are a slough of photos and even a few videos from the arctic blast. It was too cold for Elliot to participate in the winter activities (limited though they were to shoveling and shivering), so this'll be a little light on the cuteness scale. To make up for it, I'll be posting a special Friday followup edition with christmas images fresh off of the camera.

Sunday, December 21
After snowing all day Saturday Mother Nature topped things off with an ice storm overnight, leaving everything encrusted in ice the next day.

This is a boring video unless you have your volume turned up. Even then it's kind of boring, but brief.

Cleo wasn't so sure how to cope with the ice/snow combo.

Later in the day the heavy snow returned in earnest.

More snow!

Cleo finally learned to stop worrying and love the snow.

Okay, back to work.

By the time this photo was taken, the storm had produced the largest snowfall in Portland since 1968 (15+ inches). Much of the extra snow you see above came courtesy of a snowplow or two.

cold.

coooold.

The wind was so strong that it was chipping the paint from our backyard Bacchus.

Remember, there will be new photos on this page by the end of tomorrow (Friday).
